EAGLE BADGES - Shown above are three Boy Scout Troop 21 member who
received their Eagle Scout badges in impressive candlelight
ceremonies last night at the First Methodist Church. D.F.
Hungerford, of Americus, area advancement chairman conducted the
rites in which families of the outstanding scouts also participated.
L-R: Rick Waitsman, 13, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Waitsman; Mickey
McKinnon, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. K.W. McKinnon; and Steve
Broadhurst, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Broadhurst. This brought
the number of new Eagles in Troop 21 to 10 in 1964, a record for the
Kiwanis-sponsored troop. Scout Waitsman is one of the youngest troop
members to ever attain the rank of Eagle. He completed his
requirements in November but had to wait until he became 13 years of
age to officially receive the award. Charlie Hogg is troop
scoutmaster. Under his leadership 69 scouts have now risen to Eagle.
